Electrical Safety Experts 

The current Australian Standard, AS/NZS 3760:2010 specifies the tests required to be conducted in order to confirm the electrical safety of an item. Whilst the Australian Standard does not mandate a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT) should be used to conduct these tests, the use of a PAT remains one of the most comprehensive and efficient methods of ensuring an item’s electrical safety. 

ATS technicians use a combination of the Seaward Supernova XE PAT and the TagPRO thermal printer to test your electrical appliances and print tags on site.

Please note under the Harmonised WHS Regulations 2012, the Inspection, Testing and Tagging of portable electrical appliances located in a Hostile Environment has become mandatory with a documented risk assessment applicable for items in a Non-Hostile Environment.

 

Visual Testing and Tagging
Prior to electrically testing an appliance, a visual inspection is conducted by ATS technicians.  This involves a comprehensive inspection of flexible supply cord, plug, appliance and socket. Covers and guards are checked to ensure they are attached, appliances are checked for rattles indicating the presence of small foreign objects that may interfere with the safety of the appliance, and Class II appliances are checked for deep engraving which may impact on the insulation of the appliance.

Electrical Testing
The following electrical tests are also required under AS/NZS 3760:2010.

  • Insulation Resistance
  • Leakage Current Testing
  • Polarity
  • Earth Resistance
