5 GOOD HABITS FOR THE HOUSEHOLD
- Air con air filters get clogged with dust and dirt. It’s a good idea to clean them out on a frequent basis. Not just for safety’s sake, but you might have that dial higher than it needs to be. That’s a power chugger.
- TV timers: It’s remarkable how many people fall asleep in front of the TV! Some even use it to help themselves fall asleep at night. Imagine running your TV all day? Most TV sets now have timer functionality so you can set it to switch off.
- Electric usage monitor: Did you know you can determine exactly how much electricity each appliance in your home uses? A small investment such as an electric usage monitor pays off in the long run.
- Kids’ habits: Many parents have walked into a room and seen their kids’ eyes glued to an iPad while the TV is running. “TV is the new radio”, an increasingly popular quote and for good reason! That’s an expensive appliance to run for ambient sound. Start some new habits for them, “TV off when using the iPad”, is a good one!
- Calendar reminders: This may be the greatest invention we can possibly use. Calendar reminders are a part of our work life. Why not make them part of our home life too? All of the above is much MUCH easier to manage by setting a schedule, using your online calendar of choice, and sharing with the family. That way it’s not always you that’s having to do it. If you share the responsibility around it will make it a part of your household culture, and not feel like a chore!
